Coffee is the beverage of choice for many Americans. Whether they consume it black, with cream and sugar, hot or iced, coffee drinkers enjoy about 2 cups a day. While the average-sized paper cups are 9 ounces, some coffee drinkers choose to consume smaller or even larger paper cups.

As a result, it’s not surprising to discover that the retail value of this country’s coffee market is estimated at $48 billion. Specialty coffee alone comprises roughly 55% of the value share, and 37% of the coffee consumed in the United States.

In 2014 alone, the United States was considered to be the largest single buyer of coffee in the world. Around 27.5 million bags of coffee were imported during that year, and this constituted nearly 25% of all global, un-roasted imports.. Furthermore, the combined annual sales for independent coffee shops have now reached approximately $12 billion.

Arabica and Robusta, which are the 2 basic types of coffee, are considered to be the highest quality coffees throughout the world. In the speciality industry, however, Arabica is used more often than Arabica.

Independent cafes tend to sell 31% of espresso-based drinks such as cappuccinos, lattes, and iced or cold coffees These espresso-based beverages are favored with 50% of the population. The remainder of coffee sales consist of cups of brewed coffee.

Some deli owners serve coffee along with other fare, such as delicious hot soup. People in the United States enjoy over 10 billion bowls or cups of soup every year. At lunchtime, women tend to reach for soup twice as often as men, but men also enjoy a hearty bowl of soup.

In 2016, for example, 32.1% of deli operations had “enhancing soup stations” on their list of plans. Even though some people may associate soup with cold weather, it’s enjoyed year-round. Hot soup is a convenient lunch or snack for busy people that appreciate being able to purchase a quality meal to-go.

Even though 30% of people in the United States only drink coffee on occasion, others consume it daily. Whether it’s with breakfast, lunch, dinner, or between meals, coffee is a beverage consumed throughout the day.
