On the YouTube channel, Daddykirbs Farm, in a video titled “How to Make Lemon Powder-Homemade DIY Seasoning” showed consumers how to make their own lemon powder from lemon rinds.
The recipe starts with several fresh lemons washed and drained in a colander. Remove the skins or rinds using a potato peeler or your hands and put them in a bowl. Put the lemon pulp aside for use later.
Take the pile of lemon skins and use a baking pan with parchment paper and put them evenly on the pan. Heat the oven to 170 degrees and bake the lemon peels for about 24 hours until dry and brittle. Another way to dry peels is to use the microwave. Put a plate or paper towels down and microwave peels for 12 to 15 minutes on medium-high.
Remove the peels from the oven or microwave and let them cool in the kitchen. Using a blender, food processor, or grinder, grind the lemon skins into powder. Store the lemon powder in plastic containers or glass jars.
Use lemon powder in salad dressing, dips, on vegetables, in baking recipes, in yogurt, and to replace lemon zest. This powder can be mixed with other spices to create a spice mix.
