When it comes to planning a wedding brunch, there’s a pretty daunting task at hand. Not only is brunch one of people’s favorite meals, it’s also following the wedding itself — most events are going to pale in comparison. The day after wedding brunches are typically for a smaller group of the couples friends and family as an additional “thank you” and to gather for one last time before the couple goes on their honeymoon and everyone else returns home.
1. Make it an unlimited brunch.
One of the best things you can do to make sure your brunch exceeds everyone’s expectations is to make it an unlimited brunch. Since brunch dishes typically aren’t that expensive — like eggs and breads, it shouldn’t be too pricey and opens up the menu options for things like a scrambled egg bar or a Belgian waffle bar, which are both sure to please.
2. Get weird with the menu.
While you’re planning the menu, start thinking outside of the box and add a few different items to the menu that your guests won’t expect. Sixty-seven percent of respondents in a recent survey said that ethnic-inspired items like Asian-flavored syrups are hot trends in brunch dining this year.
3. Keep it light.
Another tip for throwing a great day after wedding brunch is to keep the mood light and casual. Most of the guests and the wedding party are going to be tired from the events of the day before and the months of planning it took to get there. The brunch should be a little more informal and relaxed than the preceding events, but more and more couples are shaking off tradition so these days after wedding brunches are whatever couples want them to be.
